RIEPU.FI – Terms of Service

1. Agreement to Terms
By using the RIEPU.FI service (hereinafter ”Service”) at RIEPU.FI, the user agrees to comply with these Terms of Service and the Service’s Privacy Policy. If you do not accept these terms, please refrain from using the Service.
2. Service Description
RIEPU.FI is a socio-political Finnish cultural website providing content (”Media Content”) about social change and cultural life. The service combines critical journalism, interviews, and cultural discussion.
Alongside this content, the Service may offer users the ability to participate in discussion and publish their own content, for example, through comment sections or other community functions (hereinafter ”Community Sections”). These terms apply to both the consumption of the Service’s Media Content and participation in the Community Sections.

The following content is strictly prohibited and will result in action:
- Incitement against population groups: Content containing threatening, insulting, or defamatory messages targeting specific groups (such as based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or disability).
- Criminal acts: Incitement to crime, threats, aggravated defamation, or privacy violations (including publication of personal data without permission).
- Harassment and attacks: Harassment targeting other users, personal attacks, or provocation of others.
- Spam and advertising: Repetitive, disruptive, or off-topic communication containing commercial advertisements or links.
- Illegal content: Content that violates Finnish law or international regulations.
- Copyright violations: Content you do not have the right to publish.
3.3. Political Discussion Principles
The Service is not a politically neutral or ”balanced” media platform. As with the Service’s editorial content, the discussions in the Community Sections follow a line that has a clear stance on social issues. While diverse perspectives are permitted, Service administration reserves the right to remove or modify content that conflicts with the community’s core values or is purely provocative in nature.
4. User Accounts and Management

4.1. Registration
- Registration requires providing accurate and correct information
- You are responsible for the security of your user account and password
- Creating multiple user accounts for the same person is prohibited and may result in account suspension
- Service users must be at least 16 years old
4.2. Account Deletion
- You may delete your account at any time, which terminates this agreement
- Please note that previously published messages (User Content) may remain in the Service
- Service administration reserves the right to suspend or terminate a user account if the user violates these terms of service
5. Content and Copyrights
5.1. User Content

- You retain ownership of all content you publish in the Service
- By publishing content, you grant RIEPU.FI a non-exclusive, perpetual, and worldwide right to display, modify, and share your content in connection with the Service
- You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights to content you publish
- Service administration reserves the right to remove content that violates these terms or the law
5.2. RIEPU.FI Content

- The Service’s original content (such as articles, interviews, and other editorial material), design, and features are protected by copyright
- User messages and discussions in the Community Sections remain available for the benefit of the community
6. Moderation and Monitoring (Community Sections)
6.1. Moderation
- Content is moderated after publication, not in advance
- Moderators may edit, move, or remove content that violates rules
6.2. Enforcement Actions
- Warning: First violations typically result in a warning.
- Temporary suspension: Repeated violations may result in temporary account suspension.
- Permanent ban: Serious or continued violations result in permanent account termination.
- Immediate action: Serious offenses (such as threats, unauthorized disclosure of personal information, or illegal content) may result in immediate and permanent account closure without warning.

8. Disclaimers
Service availability: The Service is provided ”as is,” with no guarantees regarding availability or error-free operation. The Service may change or be temporarily unavailable without advance notice.
User content: Views expressed in the Community Sections do not represent RIEPU.FI’s official editorial position. The Service is not responsible for the accuracy or legality of content published by users. Each user is individually responsible for content they publish and their interactions with other users.

9. Applicable Law and Copyright
Applicable law: These terms are governed by Finnish law.
Dispute resolution: Disputes are primarily resolved in the court of the user’s residence in Finland. If the defendant resides in Åland, Åland courts have jurisdiction.
Copyright violations: If you suspect that any Service content infringes your copyright, contact us by email at [email protected] with the subject ”Copyright Notice.” Include detailed information about the infringing content and proof of ownership.
10. Changes to Terms
Service administration reserves the right to update these terms periodically. Changes will be announced by updating the ”Effective Date.”
